CASTLE MOUNTAIN A large mountain resort near the south end of Canada. It's covered in thick forest (or what used to be a forest), ample amounts of snow and beasties to boot. Several lodges for tourists still remain, as well as a semi-working skiing gondola. A few caverns are around the mountain, leading to many maze-like pathways into the living quarters for the children. Natural heating from the ground allows for decent warmth among the caverns. Many pools of water exist inside the caves due to glacial melt and springs, which supports some simple fungal and algal lifeforms to live in the cave.
Large walls made of damaged ski mobiles, billboards and miscellaneous metals the children managed to get a hold of. They stand 15 feet high, and are usually guarded by children at certain times. "Mungos" aren't allowed normally into the caverns, and often shot on sight. Though, with some bribing, cleverness or a certain perk, they might just let you in. Of course, if you want to. The children are loud, obscene, cranky and ready to use their guns. Though they can trade, offer repairs and have other commodities to offer.
When the children reach adolescence (or rather, when they become a "Mungo"), they are kicked out of Castle Mountain and forced to live among the unforgiving wasteland.
